Welcome to East Bay Prospectors

Welcome to the East Bay Prospectors website!

We are an official chapter of the Gold Prospectors Association of America (GPAA), founded in March 2009.

If you are interested in gold prospecting, small-scale mining, or treasure hunting, we invite you to join us. Come to a few meetings, meet the members, and see how you like the club.

East Bay Prospectors is incorporated as a California 501(c)(3) non-profit organization under the name EB Prospectors.

VOLUNTARY Membership Dues

East Bay Prospectors has a voluntary dues system, known as “Supporting Membership”, to help cover expected major expenses such as insurance, claims fees, facility rental etc.

VOLUNTARY Annual Dues $50 per member, couple, or family
Approved Voted on by the membership
Purpose To help cover club expenses

East Bay Prospectors is a dues-free club in accordance with the GPAA guidelines. The simple reality is the cost of running the club is significant enough that we rely on voluntary help to survive.

“Supporting Membership” – Voluntary Dues – We thank the folks that have consistently paid the voluntary dues for “supporting memberships”. In addition, the annual claims guide purchases, $25 each, have almost added up to the annual amount we pay to maintain the 7 club claims which was ~$650. Your “supporting” membership donations are what helps us stay solvent. We have other fixed costs such as insurance, meeting place rent (meetings and Christmas potluck), raffle items, website and email service fees and other misc. items. Please consider making the $50 donation for a supporting membership to help us pay the bills. Each supporting membership will receive one additional door prize ticket at each monthly meeting doubling your chance at the door prize.

Mission Statement

East Bay Prospectors is dedicated to providing education, support, and increased public awareness of prospecting and mining while maintaining responsible environmental conservation.

Our purpose is to educate and support individuals, groups, organizations, and anyone interested in environmentally responsible practices related to gold prospecting, small-scale gold mining, and treasure hunting.

These goals are accomplished through training and education focused on the legal location and recovery of minerals and treasures while preserving wildlife habitat and protecting the environment where these activities occur.

Training and education may include demonstrations, lectures, meetings, and field outings at locations approved by the Board of Directors and club members, including public lands and locations where mineral rights have been secured.
